Declared a Biosphere Reserve, Menorca offers its visitors a rich culture to explore. Bathed by the warm light of the Mediterranean, Menorca boasts idyllic white sand and crystalline waters, with cliffs and gullies and wonderful rural roads to get lost in while discovering its 5,000 year history. A rich archaeological legacy immersed in nature, where the historical harmony and serenity of the island join the vibrant contrast of spectacular equestrian traditions and a heritage as unique as the island’s exquisite cuisine.
With some 216 kilometers of coastline, one of the best preserved of the Mediterranean, the island boasts more than seventy beaches on its perimeter, its most famous natural attraction. The vast majority feature fine white sand, whereas the south of the island boasts a thicker sand and the north boasts a reddish sand, a color in sharp contrast with the crystal clear waters for a spectacular effect.

The cultural offering is wide and varied in Menorca. The numerous prehistoric settlements and monuments deserve a visit and are spread throughout the island: the Naveta des Tudons, den Salord Torralba, Torre den Gaume or Cales Coves, are just a few of the many places to visit.
Museums are numerous: Museum of Nature in Ferreries; Diocesan Museum and Municipal Museum des Bastió Sa Font in Ciutadella, Menorca Museum and Museum Sanz Hernández-Mahon and the Military Museum and Fort Marlborough in Es Castell.
The main cultural events of the year are the International Week of the Opera, in Mahon, the Festival Música d'Estiu and Davidic Capella concerts in Ciutadella, in addition to the international organ festivals in Santa Maria, Mao, and Cathedral, Ciutadella. In addition, jazz concerts are booming and increasingly being incorporated into the musical offering of the island.
The marshes and ponds are scattered all over the island and feature distinct fauna and flora. Among the coastal wetlands, highlights include: the natural park of the Albufera of Es Grau (with walking routes), Addai, Son Saura and Son Bou.
In Minorca, sport and nature go hand in hand. The sea offers lots of possibilities, from swimming in any of its beaches, to windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, diving or fishing, starting from any of the countless leisure ports that exist along the entire coast: Mahon, Addaia , Fornells, Ciutadella and Cala en Bosc.
On land, in addition to improving their handicap in golf, visitors may also enjoy unique routes for hikers, whether on foot, bicycle or horse. Horseback riding is an activity that is offered at all sites and equestrian clubs on the island, focusing in particular on Mao, Ferreries and Ciutadella. Equestrian routes on the island are of particular interest, namely the Camí de Cavalls (horse track) a historic route that was used during the British rule and that ran along the coast of Menorca and which facilitated a communication path between the defense towers that were in charge of monitoring the entire coast. Today, many parts of this route can be covered.
