The Prado Museum *
This is one of the most important art galleries in the world. Its collection is centred on paintings from pre-XX century, especially Italian, Spanish and Flemish paintings. It also offers a notable collection of classic sculptures from the Greco-Roman, Renaissance and other periods.
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum*
The Museum represents one of the greatest private art collections in the world. The collections are organized in chronological order, starting with the Renaissance until the XX century.
The Queen Sofia Museum *
This is the Spanish national museum of XX century art and features collections from Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. The most famous work of art in the museum is Guernica. The museum is also home to a free-access library specialized in art and which boasts more than 100.000 books, 3.500 recordings and nearly 1.000 videos.
The National Archaeological Museum *
The museum contains samples of art from the prehistoric era until the XIX century, with a special focus on the Iberian Peninsula. Distributed among three floors, the museum boasts a reproduction of the polychromous ceiling of the Altamira Cave in the exterior garden.
The Museum of America *
Dedicated to art from the American continent, the museum is especially centred on Pre-Colombian American art, ethnology, and colonial art.

Retiro Park
Located in the centre of the city and boasting 118 hectares, the Gardens of Retiro make up one of the most remarkable places in Madrid. They feature numerous monuments and places of interest, such as the Crystal Palace, the Door of Spain, Alfonso XII Street, the pond and numerous fountains.
La Casa de Campo
Located in the Moncloa-Aravaca district, Casa de Campo is a lively area of Madrid. It is so big that inside one will find the Attraction Park of Madrid, the Zoo of Madrid and the cable car that connects with the Park of the West. Once belonging to the Royal Family, the proclamation of the Second Republic signified that it was to be turned over to the people of Madrid in 1931, when it opened for the first time for the enjoyment of the “Madrileños.”
The Royal Botanical Garden *
It is situated next to the Prado Museum. It features four staggered terraces, the Terrace of the Pictures, the Terrace of the Botanical Schools, the Terrace of the Plano de la Flor and the Laurel Terrace, which contain plants from America and the Pacific in addition to European plants.
Juan Carlos I Park
The Juan Carlos I Park is one of the biggest of the city. It is home to the IFEMA fair pavilion, where some of the most important annual expositions are celebrated. In addition, it boasts the Garden of Three Cultures, which contains three areas of gardens that represent the Christian, Jewish and Muslim cultures.
The Pardo Palace
It is located in the non-urbanized district of Fuencarral-El Pardo. Here you will find the El Pardo hill, which is protected as National Patrimony for its ecological value due to its abundance of autochthonous flora and fauna. Here you will also find the Zarzuela Palace, residence of the Spanish Royal Family and the recently constructed “pavilion” belonging to the Prince of Asturias.
